افسوس کہ مولانا محمد یوسف صاحب سابق امیر جماعت اسلامی ہند کا ۴ جولائی کو دن میں ۲بجے رامپور میں انتقال ہوگیا، اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون۔
ان کی وفات سے ملک و قوم کے درد مند وہوشمند اور مخلص اور فعال رہنماؤں کی صف اور سونی ہوگئی۔
جماعت اسلامی سے ان کا تعلق بڑا دیرینہ تھا، ۴۸ء میں منقسم ہندوستان میں جماعت کی تشکیل نو کے وقت وہ جماعت کے قیم مقرر کیے گئے، ۷۲ء تک وہ اس منصب پر فائز رہنے کے بعد امیر جماعت منتخب کیے گئے ۸۰ء تک اس پر فائز رہے۔ جماعت کے کئی اور اداروں جیسے بورڈ آف اسلامک پبلیکشنر، دعوت ٹرسٹ اور اشاعت اسلام ٹرسٹ وغیرہ کے بھی وہ چیئرمین تھے، پیرانہ سالی اور عوارض واعذار کی وجہ سے ادھر کئی برسوں سے وہ گوشہ گیر ہوگئے تھے مگر ملی و قومی مسائل سے باخبر اور ان کے متعلق فکر مند رہا کرتے تھے، گو انکے دور امارت میں جماعت کو ابتلا و آزمایش کا سامنا کرنا پڑا تاہم انھوں نے اس کو ترقی و استحکام کی راہ پر گامزن رکھا، ملک کے دوسرے اسلامی اداروں اور اشخاص سے بھی ان کا تعاون و اخلاص کا معاملہ رہا، مسلم مجلس مشاورت، مسلم پرسنل لابورڈ اور دینی تعلیمی کونسل کے وہ رکن رکین تھے، قومی و ملکی مسائل پر ان کی وسعتِ نظر، فراخدلی اور اشتراک عمل کے جذبہ کی قدر کی جاتی تھی، وہ جماعت کے اہم اجتماعات میں دوسرے مکاتب فکر کے افراد کو بھی اظہار رائے کے لیے مدعو کرتے، ان کی تقریریں اور خطبات عام طور سے نہایت متوازن، جامع اور بامقصد ہوتے، گفتار کے علاوہ کردار کے میزان میں بھی وہ پورے اترے، ۷۵ء میں ایمرجینسی کے دور ابتلاء میں انھوں نے قید و بند کی صعوبتوں کو برداشت کر کے اور...
Chronic hepatitis C is a major health problem associated with high mortality and morbidity. It is the most common chronic blood borne infection leading to chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. One of the treatment used for hepatitis C is interferon therapy which can lead to thyroid dysfunction i.e. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. OBJECTIVE: “To assess the frequency of hypothyroidism in chronic hepatitis C patients treated with standard interferon therapy”. METHODS: Thisdescriptive case series study was carried out at Outpatient Department of Medicine, King Edward Medical University/ Mayo Hospital Lahore for 06 months from July to December 2014. After ethical approval of the study, 200 patients of ages 15 to 65 years with both genders having chronic hepatitis C on Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)& normal thyroid functionstest were taken by Non-probability, purposive sampling technique. Informed written consent was taken from all the patients. Serum thyroid stimulating hormone level (TSH) was sent of all patients to Centre for Nuclear Medicine (CENUM), Mayo Hospital Lahore before and after the completion of three months of interferontherapy and hypothyroidism was considered as TSH>4.0 mIU/L (normal range: 0.2-4.0 mIU/L). RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 36.29 + 8.5 years. Out of total 200 patients, 123 (61.5%) were male and 77 (38.5%) were female. At baselines mean TSH of the patients was 3.16 + 2.57 mIU/L. After 3 months of therapy 163 patients (81.5%) were euthyroid and 37 patients (18.5%) were having thyroid dysfunction. Among patients with thyroid dysfunction 29 (14.5% of total patients) were hypothyroid. Among hypothyroid patients, according to gender distribution 8 (27.6%) patients were male and 21 (72.4%) patients were female. The difference was statistically significant (P=0.0003). CONCLUSION: It is concluded from this study that there is significant frequency of hypothyroidism in patients of chronic hepatitis C treated with standard interferon therapy and females are at more risk of developing thyroid dysfunction particularly hypothyroidism after standard interferon therapy.
Introduction: Intussusception is a surgical emergency and is one of the most common causes of intestinal obstruction in the pediatric age group, with the overwhelming majority of cases occurring in children between 3 months to 3 years of age with peak incidence of 3-12 Months. Contrast reduction is the primary, safest and successful means of treating intussusception and preferred due to less morbidity and mortality, shorter recovery period, less cost of procedure, less length of hospital stay, less complications and recurrence, higher degree of family satisfaction compared to open surgery. The objective of the study is to compare the effectiveness of Contrast reduction versus open surgery in the treatment of Intussusception among children in a tertiary care hospital (FMIC) French Medical Institute for Children. Methodology: A retrospective cohort study design was employed to achieve the study objectives. Records of all pediatric patients treated for intussusception between January-2010 till December-2014 at the French Medical Institute for Children in Afghanistan were reviewed using a structured checklist. Information Variables such as Age group, Gender, hospital length of stay, Comorbidities (Associated diagnosis), Post-operative Complications, and patient’s family satisfaction was collected. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 19.0 was used to run the data analysis. Chi-square test of independence was run to determine the association between predictor variables and treatment groups.Results: Our study findings revealed that there is difference in the effectiveness of Contrast reduction versus open surgery for the treatment of Intussusception with regard to hospital length of stay, associated diagnosis, development of complications and family satisfaction. The length of stay for study subjects who had undergone Contrast reduction was relatively low and turn out to be significant (p-value: Conclusion: Intussusception is a very common disease among children with very good prognoses if treated timely with effective treatment method. Contrast Reduction technique is rarely used in Afghanistan and most affected children are being exposed unnecessary surgery. Our study has found that Contrast reduction technique is a safe and effective treatment modality and it should be widely implemented for the treatment of Intussusception for better prognoses and survival
