13مئی یوم عزم

جس دن صحافیوں کو کوڑے مارے گئے ۔13مئی 1978 ء کی شام لاہور کے تین نوجوان صحافیوں کو فوجی حکومت کے حکم پر برہنہ کر کے پندرہ کوڑے مارے گئے تو انہوں نے اپنے دانت بھینچ لیے تھے اور درد کی آواز دبا لی تھی ۔انہوں نے فوجی دہشت سے خوفزدہ ہو نے سے انکار کر دیا تھا ۔ شام آٹھ بجے لاہور کوٹ لکھپت جیل کے میدان میں تین برہنہ آدمیوں کو لا کر ان کے ہاتھ پائوں ایک ٹکٹکی کے تختے سے باندھ دیے گئے ۔ایک پہلوان نما آدمی چمڑے کے کوڑے کو گھماتادور سے بھاگتا ہوا ان آدمیوں کے قریب آ تا اور ان کے اجسام پر پانچ پانچ بار اپنا کوڑا برساتا ۔ٹکٹکی کے سامنے کچھ دور تقریباََسو باوردی فوجی اہلکار اور سول سرکاری اہلکار کرسیوں پر بیٹھے دنیا کے اس منفرد واقعہ کا تماشا دیکھ رہے تھے ۔جس میں پاکستان کے تین صحافیوں کو پریس کے خلاف فوجی اقدامات پر احتجاج کر نے کے جرم میں کوڑوںکی سزا دی گئی ۔جن تین صحافیوں کے جسم پر ضیاء الحق کے کوڑے پڑے ان میں ایک چوبیس سالہ نوجوان اور روزنامہ کے سب ایڈیٹر خاور نعیم ہاشمی تھے ۔وہ اپنے اس دور کی یادوں کو کچھ یوں بیان کرتے ہیں ۔’’یہ جنرل ضیاء الحق کے مارشل لاء کا ابتدائی زمانہ تھا جنہوں نے 5جولائی 1977ء کو وزیر اعظم ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کومعزول کر کے اقتدار سنبھالا تھا ۔بیس سے زیادہ اخبارات اور رسائل مارشل لاء حکومت کی پالیسیوں کی مخالفت کر نے کی وجہ سے بند کر دیے گئے تھے اور تمام اخبارات پر سخت سنسر شپ عائد تھی ۔ان میں پیپلز پارٹی کا ترجمان اخبار روزنامہ مساوات بھی شامل تھا ۔خاور نعیم ہاشمی مساوات اخبار میں کام کرتے تھے ۔ان کا کہنا ہے کہ پریس پر...

Problems and Challenges to English Language in Madaris of Pakistan

Language is a communication tool to impart education at every level that is why different languages are taught for this purpose. In Madaris of Pakistan, Arabic is commonly taught as it is the language of basic Islamic sources i.e. The Holy Quran and Hadith. This paper will basically try to understand the learning of English as a language is not given importance, although it is very essential nowadays but besides this, it faces many problems and challenges in religious Madaris of Pakistan. Many factors are involved in this situation. In modern world, English language specially can be very helpful to the purposes of these Madaris. Learning of English language will help to impart, propagate and defend the message of Islam on a larger and wider scale. One can use it for da’wah and calling others to Allah. But some elements of Madaris are not well informed about to this fact that they have not such a larger vision to understand and absorb the facts. On the other side, supporters of teaching English language in Madaris are unluckily blind to the positive, historic, reformative role of Madaris. This situation is creating misunderstandings and these bodies are seen opponents while they must be supporting to each other. This article reviews the challenges and the problem and challenges to English language in Madaris as well as how to bridge the chasm created between the two schools of thought.

Impact of Educated Maternal Workforce on Academic Performance of Children at Primary Level

Education is playing major role to promote social, political, economical and intellectual development of any nation around the globe. Students’ performance at primary level is the integration of psychological socio-economical, institutional standards and parental environment of interest, time spent with children, mothers’ motivation, fathers’ involvement and investment on children are the big factors to lift up children academic performance. The major focus of the study was to explore the impact of maternal workforce on academic performance of children at primary level. Compare academic performance of children of highly educated working mothers and less educated working mothers. Investigate the impact social interaction of highly educated working mothers and less educated working mothers on children. Find out the differences of time spent in child’s educational activities by highly educated working mothers and less educated working mothers. Probe variations in income spent by highly educated working mothers and less educated working mothers on their children. The study was both quantitative and qualitative in nature. Survey method was used as a major method for this research study. All those students who had passed class four and promoted to class five were the part of population and they were 525. Total number of students participating in study were 350. The total number of teachers were 21. Mothers of the respective students; educated working, nonworking and without education were the part of population. Proportionate allocation method was employed to select sample size. Data were collected through questionnaire; from children, teachers and mothers. Questionnaires were developed in the light of previous researches. Reliability were also tested, questionnaires were distributed to the respondents personally. Data were analysed through percentages, graphs, ANOVA and t-test. Data was tabulated and interpreted in SPSS (statistical package for social sciences).Highly educated working mothers children’s got high academic(83.4) achievement as compare to less educated working mothers(74.06). By applying cross tabulation it was appeared that about 46 children of highly educated working mothers obtained more than 90% marks. So highly educated mothers are in better position to assist their children in academic performance at school.
