آمد سے قبل معجزات

واضح نہیں ہوئی تھی ابھی شانِ کردگار
اُس وقت کب کسی کو تھی پہچانِ کردگار
پھر یوں ہُوا وہ لوگوں پہ احسانِ کردگار
خود کردگار کا تھا جو جانانِ کردگار
اُس کے زمیں پہ آنے کے آثار ہو گئے
اور معجزات تھے کہ نمودار ہو گئے

سچ ہی تھا مُطّلب کا وہ یعنی کہا ہُوا
پھر طیر کے وہ جُھنڈ نظر آئے باخدا
برساتِ سنگ کرتے وہ دشمن پہ جابجا
قہرِ خدا سے لشکرِ اعدا ہُوا فنا
اپنے حبیبؐ کے لیے ایسا سماں کِیا
دشمن تھے جتنے آپؐ کے عبرت نشاں کِیا

پھر یوں جنابِ آمنہ کا انکشاف تھا
جب سے شکم میں میرے ہے یہ نورِ باصفا
محسوس اس کا بار بھی ہوتا نہیں ذرا
سایہ کُناں ہے سر پہ مرے ٹکڑا ابر کا
پوشیدہ اس میں تھا یہی پیغامِ کبریا
یعنی نبیؐ کی ذات سراسر ہے معجزہ

Relationship between Body Image, Self-Esteem and Academic Behavior of Adolescent Girls in Karachi, Pakistan

Objective: The objective of the study is to explore the relationship between body image, self-esteem and academic behavior amongst adolescent girls living in Karachi, Pakistan and simultaneously explore the mediating role of self-esteem in the relationship of the other two variables. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study design with a sample size of 400 adolescent girls belonging to a selected community of Karachi, Pakistan. Pre-validated tools, Body Shape Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Academic Behavior Scale were used for data collection of the study. The data was then analyzed using SPSS 17. Results: The results proved significant associations between all three variables with p<0.05. Moreover, a partially mediating role of self-esteem was noticed to be causing 74.8% variation in the relationship between body image and academic behavior. Conclusion: As per the study findings, body image, self-esteem and academic behavior of adolescent girls residing in Karachi, Pakistan are associated with each other. It was also concluded that higher body image dissatisfaction may lead to poor self-esteem which in turn negatively impacts the positive academic behavior of the girls. Hence, representing a mediating role of self-esteem in the relationship.  Overall, parents, educators, academic professionals, counselors and healthcare professionals can benefit from the study findings to positively play their parts in improving the lives of adolescents around them.       

Exploring Teacher Educators Professional Development of a Private Organization Involved in Faith Education in Karachi

The purpose of this study was to explore how teacher educators of a private organization, involved in faith education develop themselves professionally to support teachers. This was a case study grounded in the social constructivist framework. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field notes, and observation. The collected data was analyzed by using constant comparative method. The findings indicated that the teacher educators of faith education developed themselves professionally through the following strategies; (a) through formal training programs, field experiences, public speaking skills, reflection, and readings of Various Subjects. (b) Pedagogical content knowledge for teacher educators’ professional development; professional development programs, discussions with the faith education teachers, cooperative learning, and understanding of psychology and philosophy. Discussion focuses on how these findings are related to teacher educators’ professional development in the context of faith education.
