ابھی مولانا عبدالماجد دریابادی کی وفات کا غم تازہ ہی تھا کہ اردو زبان کے ایک اور صاحب کمال صاحب طرز اور صاحب فن ادیب اور انشاء پرداز یعنی یگانۂ روزگار، فخر مسلم یونیورسٹی علی گڑھ درمایۂ ناز فرزند شیراز ہند جناب رشید احمد صدیقی کی رحلت کی خبر ملی۔
دل سے لپٹ لپٹ کر غم بار بار رویا
وہ مڑیاہو ضلع جونپور کے رہنے والے تھے، علی گڑھ میں چھ سال تعلیم پائی، یہاں کے شعبۂ اردو کے صدر کی حیثیت سے سبکدوش ہوئے تو یہیں کے ہوکر رہ گئے، اس کی روایات کے رازداں، اس کی حمیت کے دیدباں، اس کی عزت کے نگہبان اور اس کی آبرو کے پاسبان بن کر ساری زندگی گزاری، وہ علی گڑھ مسلم یونیورسٹی کو ایک اہل دل مسلمان نقاش اور مصور کا شاہکار سمجھتے رہے، سیاحوں کو جو دل آویزی اور رعنائی اجنٹا اور ایلورا میں نظر آتی ہے، وہی ان کو گھر بیٹھے مسلم یونیورسٹی میں نظر آتی رہی، شاہجہاں مثمن برج میں بیٹھ کر تاج محل دیکھا کرتا، پھر اسی برج میں اس نے ایک چھوٹا سا شیشہ نصب کرا رکھا تھا، جس میں تاج محل کا پورا عکس پڑتا رہتا، رشید صاحب کے لئے علی گڑھ میں ان کا مکان ان کا مثمن برج تھا، جس کے اندورونی حصہ میں ایک خوبصورت لہلہاتا سبزہ زار تھا، اس کے بیرونی حصہ میں طرح طرح کے گلاب کے پودے لگے رہتے تھے، یہیں سے اپنے شیشہ دل میں اپنے ذہن کے تاج محل یعنی مسلم یونیورسٹی کو دیکھ کر خوش ہوتے رہتے، اب اسی تاج محل کے اندر مدفون ہیں، جس کی سرزمین نے ان کے جسدخاکی کو نہیں بلکہ مسلم یونیورسٹی کے نشاط روح، سوزسینہ اور دل بے قرار کو بڑے شوق سے اپنی آغوش میں لے لیا ہوگا، وہ جاچکے مگر اپنی...

صحتِ انسانی اور صحت مند ماحول میں نباتات کا کردار: سائنس اوراسلامی تعلیمات کے تناظر میں ایک مطالعہ

The research paper deals with role of plants in human health and healthy environment in the context of Qur'anic verses and science. The concept of growing plants for health rather than for food or fiber is slowly changing plant biotechnology and medicine. Rediscovery of the connection between plants and health is responsible for launching a new generation of botanical therapeutics that include plant-derived pharmaceuticals, multi component botanical drugs, dietary supplements, functional foods and plant-produced recombinant proteins. Many of these products will soon complement conventional pharmaceuticals in the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of diseases, while at the same time adding value to agriculture. Holy Quran describes the importance of rain as pure water to irrigate dead soil and emergence of life (plant’s growth) from the dead soil. Plants provide foods for human beings and are necessary for healthy environment. Man is an omnivore who gets his food from both plant and animal sources. However, for immediate energy, humans rely more on plant starches and soluble sugars, including glucose and edible sugar. Generally, our normal diet consists of rice or wheat bread which is a very important source of starch.  Sugar and fats are the two most important components of food managed by plants. Apart from this, the man manages vegetables and salads from plants which are the guarantors of his health/survival in modern times. There are many reasons for diversity in plants. The obvious reason is the chemistry of that particular piece of land, what kind of minerals/salts and other nutrients that land has and what types of plants can grow there in their presence. In this research written with a descriptive and analytical approach, it is proved that according to Quran and science plants have a great role in human health and healthy environment.

Design and Fabrication of Switchable Metal Organic Frameworks

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a versatile class of porous crystalline materials constructed from metal nodes and organic linkers. Postsynthetic modification (PSM) has emerged as an important late-stage approach to functionalizing MOFs. The introduction of the desired functional groups via PSM strategies requires chemical handles or tags within the MOFs‟ lattice though appropriate linker molecules during their synthesis. Click reactions offer dynamic covalent chemistries that result in changes of surface properties by allowing very fast and reversible reactions under mild condition. The present work demonstrates the synthesis of amine functionalized metal organic frameworks followed by the post synthetic modification via various strategies involving click chemistry.A thermally reversible Diels– Alder ligation between cyclopendienyl (Cp) groups functionalized MOFs (NH2-MIL-88B-Fe and ML-88B-Fe) and small molecules bearing maleimide groups was employed to fabricate MOFs with switchable chemical nature. The thermally induced Hetero Diels-Alder (HDA) reactions between cyclopendienyl (Cp) groups grafted on NH2-MIL-53-Al and dithioester based moieties were performed to prepare MOFs able to reprogrammable chemical nature. Maleimide group containing molecules of markedly different chemical nature were utilized to demonstrate the reversible switching of functionalities on furan groups containing MOF (NH2-UiO-66-Zr) presenting an unprecedented concept of a MOF that may be transformed to perform distinct functions simply by switching their chemical functionalities. The potential of thiol-ene click chemistry was utilized to postsynthetically modify MOF (IRMOF-3-Zn). The thiol–maleimide Michael addition approach allows the maleimide bearing frameworks to graft cysteine based biomolecules. All the results in the presented thesis were supported by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis.
