انشق القمر
اقتربت الساعۃ وانشق القمر(قیامت قریب آگئی اور چاند پھٹ گیا)
جمہور مفسرین کے نزدیک اس سے مراد وہی انشقاق القمر ہے جو جان دو عالم ﷺ کے عہد میں بطور معجزہ رونما ہوا ۔ بعض مفسرین رائے کے مطابق اس انشقاق سے مراد وہ انشقاق ہے جو قیامت قائم ہونے کے وقت رونما ہو گا کیونکہ آیت کریمہ میں اس سے پہلے قیامت کے قریب ہونے کا ذکر ہے اس لیے ظاہر ہے کہ انشقاق بھی وہی مراد ہو گا جو قرب قیامت کی نشانی ہے ۔ اس رائے پر یہ اعتراض وارد ہوتا ہے کہ قیامت کے نزدیک جو انشقاق ہو گا وہ تو مستقبل میں ہوگا ، اگر وہ مراد ہوتا تو مستقبل پر دلالت کرنے والا کوئی صیغہ لایا جاتا یعنی چاند پھٹ جائے گا ، جبکہ قرآن مجید میں اس انشقاق کا ذکر ماضی کے صیغہ سے کیا گیا ہے یعنی چاند پھٹ گیا ، اس لیے اس سے مراد قرب قیامت والا انشقاق نہیں ہو سکتا ۔ اس کا جواب ان مفسرین نے یہ دیا ہے کہ مستقبل میں جس چیز کا وقوع یقینی ہو ، اس کو اللہ تعالیٰ کبھی کبھی ماضی کے صیغے سے ذکر کر دیتا ہے اور اس سے مقصود یہ بتانا ہو تا ہے کہ اس چیز کا واقع ہونا اتنا متیقن ہے کہ گویا واقع ہو چکی ہے ۔ جس طرح اللہ تعالیٰ قیامت کو ’’ امر اللہ ‘‘ سے تعبیر کرتے ہوئے ارشاد فرماتا ہے اتی امراللہ ط اللہ کا حکم ، یعنی قیامت آ گئی ہے حالانکہ قیامت مستقبل میں آئے گی مگر متیقنا الوقوع ہونے کی وجہ صیغہ ماضی کے ساتھ اس کا ذکر کیا گیا ہے ۔ یہی صورت ۔۔۔ْ چاند پھٹ گیا ۔۔۔ میں بھی ہے ۔ یہ جواب نہایت معقول ہے اور اگر مسئلہ صرف اسی آیت...

Developing An Improved Heart Rate Monitor With Work-Out Training Android Application And Real Time Audio Coaching

TechnoHeart is a digital way of monitoring heart rate using a Heart Rate Monitor device and an android phone. Moreover, this is made more special through its work-out training which is designed to help users set and achieve their target heart rate and monitor at what training intensity they are during a strenuous exercise. The training is made more interactive as the application has its real-time audio coaching. The need for this application comes from three sources; First, some athletes, non-athletes and even doctors are still using the traditional way of getting the heart rate; Second, training intensity is not monitored and target heart rate is not achieved; Third, most mobile developments do not tailor the need of users who undergo work-out training. With the following needs, objectives were set; First, to connect an HRM (Heart Rate Monitoring) device to an android mobile device and display individual’s heart rate in digital form through mobile; Second, to create a work-out training program using the Karvonen Formula; Third, to enable users know one’s target heart rate by using a Karvonen calculator; Fourth, to notify users in real time with every sudden change and the needed action in order to keep an effective training exercise. The project is to explore this and other similar concepts to develop a design that optimally satisfies all of these objectives. The project addresses all of these objectives while meeting the constraints given. The project was deployed in three different sets of users: The University of Mindanao Athletes, The elderly users aging from 50-80 years old and the other users aging from 12-49 years old. The researchers recommend the use of TechnoHeart for athletes and non-athletes who are aiming for an effective cardiovascular training. And for the next researchers, they can focus on the compatibility of the said application to other mobile platforms like iOS, Blackberry, Windows and etc. And also, they may upload application in the internet such as in social networking sites or any features that would make this project more usable.

Influence of Silicon on Growth and Some Physiological Attributes of Maize Zea Mays L. under Salt Stress

Three independent experiments were carried out in hydroponic and sand cultures to explore the alleviating effects of different levels of silicon (Si) on growth related attributes and some vital physio-chemical characteristics in two maize cultivars exposed to NaCl-induced salinity stress. Each experiment comprised two maize cultivars (Sadaf and Sahiwal-2002), two salt concentrations (0 and 120 mM NaCl) with varied Si concentrations. Initially, nine Si levels (0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0, 2.4, 2.8 and 3.2 mM) were used for optimization of Si levels in Hoagland’s nutrient solution. Silicic acid [Si(OH) 4 ] was used as a source of Si. Four Si levels (0, 1, 2 and 4 mM) were selected from the optimization experiment, which then were employed for major experimentation. Interactive effect of Si and salt on growth, gas exchange characteristics, plant pigments, chlorophyll fluorescence attributes, biochemical parameters like proline, total phenolics, H 2 O 2 , MDA, antioxidant enzymes (CAT, POD and SOD) and ion accumulation (Na + , Ca 2+ , K + , Cl - and Si) were determined. Exogenous application of Si improved the growth, photosynthetic efficiency, membrane stability, and antioxidant activities and alleviated the toxic effect of Na + ion via improving plant K + , water status, photosynthetic efficiency, membrane stability and activities of antioxidant enzymes. Of various levels, 1 or 2 mM Si were found more effective in this regard under control conditions. However, under stressful environment, 4 mM of Si gave maximum protection against salt stress. Of yield attributes, a positive association was found between Si application and grain yield per plant, although, Si made no change in 100-grain weight. Conclusively, Si had a positive impact on overall health of plant especially under stressed environment and was found effective in the enhancement of salinity tolerance of maize plants.
